ATM CENTRE

The Air Traffic Management Centre is located next to Airports Fiji Limited headquarters in Namaka, Nadi. It is the management site of Nadi’s Flight Information Region (NFIR) and is a popular destination for school visits and arrangements can be made by contacting customerservice@afl.com.fj.

ATC Services

Air Traffic Control Services are provided by the Air Traffic Controllers based in Nadi, Nausori, Savusavu, Labasa, Taveuni and Rotuma. Their primary objective is to ensure the safety of air travellers within the NFIR.

AIS

Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) is responsible for the collection and dissemination of information necessary for the safety and efficiency of air navigation throughout the NFIR.

The objective of the AIS is to ensure the flow of information necessary for the safety, regularity and efficiency of international civil aviation.

The aeronautical information collected by the AIS is mainly published as an Aeronautical Information Package, which has the following elements:

• Aeronautical Information Publications and its amendments
• Aeronautical Information Publications Supplements
• NOTAM and Pre-flight Information Bulletin
• Checklist and List of Valid NOTAM
• Aeronautical Charts.
• Aeronautical Information Circulars

Pre-Flight Information Service

The pre-flight information service is available from the Nadi Briefing office which is in AIS office.

This service provides pre-flight information bulletins containing information on the status of facilities and services taken from current NOTAM and made available to flight crews

All scheduled international flights known to the Nadi Briefing Office are provided with the hard copy of the briefing bulletin, which can be delivered to their agents or collected from the Nadi Briefing Office.

Non-scheduled international flights requiring this service, must notify the Briefing Office twenty four hours before Estimated Time of Arrival with the details of their requested bulletin products.

NOTAM

NOTAM is an acronym for Notice To Airmen.

It is a form of notice used to promulgate temporary changes to operationally significant information that requires immediate dissemination and is issued via AFTN.

Some types of information that deals with changes to facilities and services which are of a temporary nature or of short duration. In addition, notification of operationally significant changes of a temporary or permanent nature is sometimes required at short notice. Such information are issued in the form of a notice known as a “NOTAM.”

Weather

The weather information for the Fiji Group is the exclusive responsibility of the Fiji Meteorological Service which has its office at Namaka, Nadi.
